And God Created Woman (1956) presents the iconic unbridled youthful sensuality of Brigitte Bardot.

Directed and co-written by Roger Vadim.

Starring Brigitte Bardot, Curd Jürgens and Jean-Louis Trintignant among many others.

Vadim wisely chose to focus the entire film on his then young, sexy wife Bardot. Brigitte brilliantly and wisely chose to be herself, which for an actor is one of the hardest things to pull off successfully. Roger learned from John Ford's, Stagecoach (1939) how to showcase his star. Ford presented us with a memorable shot of John Wayne slinging a rifle, Vadim iconically features Bardot's body in silhouette on hanging bed sheets to get around the sensors.

In the scene below Bardot explodes on film effortlessly. Brigitte created the often copied youthful, unbridled sensuality on screen in the time of Marilyn Monroe's sultry sensuality and Sophia Loren's elegant sensuality. As an actor I study how other actor present their characters and am fascinated by how utterly open Bardot presents herself. Brigitte moves with grace and confidence whether she is clothed or naked. Audiences always respond positively to actors who are honest and that is what attracts them to this film.

Trivia - And God Created Woman is credited with making St. Tropez a fashionable resort.
